The Point Cartwright Challenge 2010 finished last Saturday - the culmination of 5 races over 5 months, and the race organisers have finally announced the results (after some delay due to computer glitches). So fresh off the internet... congratulations to the following CRR runners who won placings in their categories for the 5km series (and this despite several of them missing one of the five races, through injury, illness or other running obligations) :
Brennan unfortunately narrowly missed out on placing, but has run some fantastic times for the (hilly) 5km course, and as the junior end of his category is definitely going to be one to watch out for next year! The series also saw some of our newer members make rapid improvements over the short (2km) course - Scott bringing his times down to finish well under 4.30/kms.
The series is growing in popularity, as it is suitable for runners of all levels of fitness, with participants ranging from state champions to those in their first year of running. There's a distance to suit everyone (2km, 5km & 10km) and as it's a very scenic course (around the lighthouse and along the waterfront of Mooloolaba) there's enough beauty to distract you from the pain!! There's also a great breakfast afterwards to reward all that hard effort and lots of random spot prizes. Roll on 2011!
