Weekly Wrap

Edited 20090225 12:45

Here's a quote from a recent email from Ron about last Saturdays Deception Bay jog for the Narangba Runners, "I am confident no one showed up for Saturday’s run after waking up to rain. It was certainly wet in our parts."

Well Ron, we can assure you some of us did turn up and it was certainly wet in our pants too.  Mappo, Team Haze and Parso planned a ride to DBay then the run but meeting at Steve's first it was obviously too wet to ride so we drove.  Being early we spent quite some time in the car, fogging up the windows and causing those locals who were out walking dogs no less, to glance suspiciously at 3 males in various states of undress laughing like loons in a parked car.

One of Ron's regular ladies did turn up, Sue I think her name is, but after 5 minutes in the car with us out of the rain she decided not to run but go home.  Was it something we said?

Finally ran 10ks in the pouring rain and the topic of conversation along the way?  Running in the Simpson Desert.  Well you would wouldn't you?

Congratulations to Cara in her debut tri on Bribie on Sunday.  Cara finished in 5th place in her category.  Might have lost a bit of time in transition as her swim leg looks way too slow, but she caned 'em on the bike finishing 1st before a solid 4th in the run leg.  Wahoo!  Actually she tells us she had trouble in the swim with the "waves", just ask her.

And another budding triathlete tried the 3 disciplines the previous week too on the Sunshine Coast.  Matt F, elder son of Zorro, enjoyed it so much he's keen for another go.

And we can't be too critical of Ron after Saturday as we hear two of his charges set regional records recently in the 800 and 1500 events.  James Jnr, Jo's eldest, and Sarah both of whom you may recognise from our 3k time trial, had outstanding races and young James went on to win the Pentathlon.  Awesome.  Congratulations everyone.

Let Parso know what you've been up to or have planned.  Cheers
