About Us
Caboolture is a small, semi-rural township about 40km north of Brisbane.
Training groups for fun runs to marathons, all levels of running and walking from joggers/fun runners to elite, regular social functions and team events, Club training 7:00pm Thursday nights and 6pm Monday Nights both sessions at Caboolture sports complex (Centenary Lakes), and a monthly 3k race, on the last Thursday of every month. You must join the club to participate in this training.
Caboolture Road Runners was formed in 1995 to give local runners and walkers a support network for training runs and social events.
While we do have a few “gun” runners in the club, most of our members run just because they enjoy it. We like getting fit and everyone sets their own personal goals. The club is full of experience and there is always someone to talk to when you’re after advice about a particular race, training techniques or treating an injury. Members range in age from early twenties to sixty something, with most around 35-45 and about 60/40 male/female. We also have a focus on the social side.
Competitions
The club conducts a 10k and 5k Handicap race each month from March to October and an informal series of runs, rides and swims every summer. The handicap system ensures that runners and walkers of all abilities get an opportunity to compete on an equal basis. Results from the past 5 years show that the series winners come from every facet of the club and the only person you have to beat is yourself. On the last Thursday night each month the club conducts a track event, generally 3000 metres, at the Centenary Lakes Sports Complex at 7pm. This is a time trial event where members and visitors can measure their performance at a particular event at a particular point in time. The 3k race is occasionally varied with other events like a handicap start, 1 mile predictor where you estimate your time before the event, self select over other distances from 2k to 10k. Additionally club members compete in fun runs and organised events anywhere, any time. Club members have run ultras (anything longer than a marathon) in Germany, the marathon in Scotland, Comrades ultra in South Africa, and in Australia from the Great Ocean Road ultra to the Townsville marathon and everywhere in between!
